About my prints
I print all my images myself on a Canon imagePROGRAF PRO-1000 professional inkjet printer for A2 size paper. That is because I like to control everything myself so the prints are entirely my product – not only the image itself but the physical item.
The images sizes are always as big as will fit on A2 paper with a white border of at least 10mm or so. If the image is in portrait format (taller than its width when the height is 560mm or less), the side borders are approximately 10mm wide with possibly wider borders at the top and bottom. If the image is square or in landscape format (wider than its height when its width is 400mm or less), the top and bottom borders are approximately 10mm wide with possibly wider borders at the sides. It all depends on the shape of the image. The 10mm border allows a framing mount to pass over the paper a few millimetres to hold it in position and, if required, a couple of millimetres of paper to show between the mount and the image; that is how I would frame them myself.
The prints are shipped on untrimmed A2 paper. Typically, I use Marrutt 265gsm Pro Photo Satin / Oyster high-end and acid-free inkjet paper or a similar quality from Olmec. The printer uses 11 colours of pigment inks for richness and accuracy of colour. This combination is as archival as is generally available. Some people call them giclée, a high-resolution, museum-quality fine art reproduction, which I suppose they are. If they are framed behind Art Glass – an anti-reflective, premium glass with 92% UV protection – they will be even more fade-resistant and should last a lifetime hung on a wall without visible deterioration.
